German experts support the educators of Novohrad-Volynskyi in implementing energy efficiency measures

According to the residents of Novohrad-Volynskyi, where the second phase of the educational project on energy efficiency in schools was launched in late November 2015, “all humanity and every person in particular must save energy”. On February 16, 2016 the city, which is an active partner of Zhytomyr-led consortium under the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” implemented by GIZ, welcomed Ukrainian and German energy efficiency experts and consultants.

In his welcome address, Mr. Viktor Veselskyi, City Mayor, highlighted the importance of implementing energy efficiency measures and introduction of best international practices in the given sector. Mr. Serhyi Kolotov, First Deputy Mayor, presented the incentive system for persons in charge of energy saving issues in public institutions. He also reminded on the establishment of the Natural Environment Park, created as an experimental research center on the basis of Secondary School №5, which is expected to be completed this year.

Ms. Svitlana Chebotariova, Project Expert, outlined the main objectives of the educational project on energy efficiency whereas the consultants in the field of energy saving educational projects in Germany Mr. Jorg Ackerman and Mr.Tim Mandel shared their experience of energy efficiency measures implementation in German educational institutions.

The guests also visited two educational establishments of Novohrad-Volynskyi, namely Secondary Schools №2 and №9, where they met with energy efficiency group leaders and representatives of the city school youth. With the help of the striking demonstration methods they introduced the technology of “shocking ventilation” of premises with minimal heat energy losses. Finally, Mr. Dmytro Marusych, Project Expert in the field of energy management, presented the main methods of conducting a thermographic survey and delivered some practical exercises on using professional thermal imaging camera.
