Energy efficient refurbishment of the kindergarten in Poltava will serve as a model for other municipalities in the region

With a view to increasing the comfort level of the youngest citizens of Horishni Plavni, energy efficient modernization of a kindergarten carried out in line with the latest energy saving requirements was accomplished in the city at the end of August 2016. Energy efficient measures at the Preschool “Zolota Rybka” were implemented in the framework of cooperation with the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Total budget of the project amounts to 916 935 UAH.

In particular, the air pump and recirculation system were installed to ensure hot water supply in the building. From now on, the preschoolers and staff of the kindergarten can enjoy the advantages of hot water supply all year round that will significantly improve the working conditions and comfort level.

It is expected that implementation of the above mentioned energy saving measures will help to save up to 94 010 UAH annually. Moreover, the project will result in reduction of CO₂ emissions by 17, 7 tons per year, which is in line with the developed Sustainable Energy Action Plan of Horishni Plavni.

Comprehensive reconstruction of hot water supply system at the preschool “Zolota Rybka” will serve as a case study for energy efficient refurbishment of public buildings and further dissemination of this experience amongst the other municipalities of the region.
