Dnipropetrovsk region actively applies online tools to address energy efficiency challenges in the region

At the initiative of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, the leader of Dnipropetrovsk consortium in the framework of GIZ Project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities”, a very interesting and useful online resource was developed and implemented in order to raise awareness and involve the wide public in solving energy efficiency issues.

The web portal was launched in late November 2014, in response to the urgent need to improve the quality of informing population on energy efficiency challenges. At present it has already become an integral element and effective tool of communication energy strategy of the region. In January 2015 Advisor to the Chairman of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Vitaliy Bykov presented the initiative during the coordination workshop on the dialogue platform development under the GIZ Project «Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” held in Zhytomyr (presentation can be viewed and downloaded at: https://eeim.org.ua/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/PPP_Dnipropetrovsk_Dialogue-Platform-WS_Zhytomyr_21.01.2015_RU.pdf) As of today, the web portal traffic in average amounts to over 90 people per day.

Functioning as an open Internet platform, it offers a user-friendly interface, high-quality content, attractive infographics and possibility to find recommendations on reducing energy consumption in the residential sector, information on the current calls for proposals and grant programs for population, success stories, i.e. examples of successfully implemented energy efficiency projects, as well as regional news and upcoming events in the field of energy efficiency. Such kind of initiatives significantly contribute to enhancing the literacy on energy issues amongst population, promoting energy saving ideas and attracting potential investors to finance energy efficiency projects.
