With technical and financial support of the German Government, in the framework of the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, a set of energy saving measures has been developed to improve energy efficiency of public buildings in Kolomyia. In particular, the works on a comprehensive modernization of heating and water supply systems of the municipal secondary school No.2 have already started.

On October 4-6, 2016, a number of activities in the field of energy efficiency were held in Pavlohrad, which is a partner city of the consortium led by Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council under the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

In the framework of German Weeks in Ukraine 2016, on September 21 – 23, 2016 Sievierodonetsk hosted the German Energy Efficiency Week, during which a wide range of activities aimed at improving energy efficiency and promoting energy saving behavior amongst the city residents were held.

With the support of the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” implemented on behalf of the German Government by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on September 21- 23, 2016, Luhansk Regional Office of the Association of Ukrainian Cities jointly with Sievierodonetsk City Council and Luhansk Regional State Administration organised the German Energy Efficiency Week in Sievierodonetsk that was held in the framework of German Week in Ukraine 2016. Mr. Wolfgang Mössinger, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk (office in Dnipro), took part in the celebrations.

Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum’16 entitled “Energy Efficiency Fund – Ukraine’s Major START-UP” was held on June 23, 2016 at NSC Olimpiyskyi in Kyiv. The event was attended by Mr. Volodymyr Groysman, Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Mr. Hennadiy Zubko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Municipal Economy of Ukraine.

Ms. Christiana Hageneder, Director of the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” also took part in the Forum and delivered address under the panel discussion “Who and how shall insulate your house? Are Ukrainian manufacturers ready to meet the upcoming investments to energy efficiency market?”

On May 12, 2016 Kyiv hosted the II Energy Partnership Forum “Energy service: investments in energy efficiency of public sector and advantages for residential housing”. The event was organized at the initiative of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) and the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Municipal Economy of Ukraine, with the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation and numerous donor projects in energy sector, including the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities”, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

On April 25, 2016 the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine jointly with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) held a round table in Kyiv entitled “Energy subsidies in Ukraine and the first results of reform.”

The training was held in Kyiv on January 25-29, 2016 at the Institute for Energy Saving and Energy Management (IEE) NTU “KPI” as a continuation of the training series launched by the project in 2014 with a view to ensuring professsional training of energy managers in the partner cities, with the first one having been held in Feldafing (Germany).
