Improving living standards through energy efficiency improvement in social infrastructure will be in focus of the international conference “CHANGES ARE HERE: Ukrainian municipalities share successful experience and outline the ways of further cooperation with Germany in the field of energy efficiency”, which is being held on March 21-22, 2017 in Dnipro City.
The international conference that brought together over 120 participants from five countries is organised under the auspices of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the projects of German-Ukrainian cooperation “Strengthening Social Infrastructure for Absorption of IDPs” and “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities” and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Municipal Economy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine.
The event has been attended by representatives of central and regional executive authorities, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk, municipal administrations, research institutions and civil society organisations of the partner cities under both projects, as well as national and international experts and consultants in the field of energy efficiency and sustainable urban development.
During the first day, within the three sessions participants are discussing the experience of implementing the systems of energy management, energy monitoring and benchmarking in the partner cities. Also, presentation of successful results and achievements of the Ukrainian municipalities under the motto “Changes are here!” will take place.
The second day of the conference will focus on the issues related to facility management and the prospects of its implementation in Ukraine. In particular, participants will present the examples of successful application of the tools offered under this specific management sector, which is still new for Ukrainian cities.
The conference will be highlighted with presentation of the achievements of energy efficiency dialogue platforms established with a view to promoting and implementing various initiatives in the field of energy saving in municipal and residential sector, working with target audiences and wide public, and disseminating the best practices of developed by the partner municipalities amongst other cities Ukraine.
